dog basket for cocker spaniel

My Cocker is 5 months old, sleeps happily in a crate but I would like her to have a basket for the lounge that she may eventually sleep in at night so need to get something good quality. Obviously hygiene important but I don't want to get one of the hard ones as I hate the look of them although practical
Any ideas about various types of basket gratefully received - my husband just wants to go to Pets at Home and buy anything we like the look of but I think there is more to it than that! Thanks

Also, is there any sort of cushioning type sleep material that fits into standard crate sizes? Chloe has 'vet bed' in back half and newspaper in front. Now she never wees in the crate any more (she can go 8 hours easily) I wondered about something more comfy - washable obviously

Thank you

I use double duvets in the crates for my two. Means I can take the duvet out and put it in the living room and they'll happily lay on then as their smells are all over them. Also super easy to wash and dty very quickly.

They're just cheap summer duvets from Asda :)

Tuffy beds are very easy to clean, but softer than a plastic basket. They're not cheap bit will last a long time

would this go in crate or be separate bed eg in lounge? Will have a look at the website or can you get them in petshops?

They do several designs, most could fit in a crate but they can be used on their own too. I'm not sure if you can buy them in shopsm their website is http://www.tuffies.co.uk/
  • I would just use two layers of vet bed in her crate. It's so easy to wash.
  • I use a plastic dog bed for hygiene as it can be well cleaned and they last forever and I use one of these

They are fab and my dog loves hers. My dog is often sick in her bed as she has allergies to certain foods and it has been washed in the washing machine over and over again and still looks like new. I have converted all of the family to them now.:D

I think the cheapest place at the moment is a place called Doggie Solutions as I purchased one for my mum over the weekend.

    Hope this is helpful

  • The only bed our cocker hasn't chewed is a memory foam one, and we've been through a few! She will chew any with 'stuffing' and plastic ones have bitten the dust too. It's just a rectangle of memory foam with a blanket on it but she loves it.

hadn't thought about the chewing, isn't that just when puppies, ours doesn't chew the furniture although she did when v small, she is 5 months now and just chews me and her toys!

tis a thought though! Do others have this problem?
