in Credit cards
Hi
I do not have a credit card & have never had one in my 36 years on this planet!
I have always paid by my Visa Delta debit card both in this country & abroad & even use it to withdraw cash from the cashpoint abroad to save taking currency.
I however have a problem this year with our car hire in Spain as whereas in the past I have paid for the rental by Visa Delta, I am informed that this payment method is no longer accepted & I will need to pay by credit card. I am a little confused by this as I thought that it was treated as a Visa card?
Which is the best card to apply for for this purpose & also perhaps using here too. Perahps a card that offers cashback as I would always intend paying the full balance?
Would it be best to use my Abbey visa delta for cashpoint withdrawls as I have done in the past in Spain or use a credit card?
Many thanks for your help.

for use abroad the best credit card is probably nationwide as it doesn't charge extra for use abroad (most add betweeen 2 and 3 % as a foreign exchange fee).
however, this isn't a cashback card so if you want a cash back card for use here i would suggest you try EGG MONEY which gives 1% cashback (confusingly EGG also have an EGG card.. you need the EGG MONEY card)
capital 1 have also just introduced a 1% cashback card with 4% for the first 3%.
Only apply for one at a time.
Never use a Credit card to withdraw cash unless desperate as you usually get charged 2-3% plus interest is added starting immediately and usually at a very high (25%) rate.0 -
Thanks Mister Clapton!
Applied for a Post Office card for purchases abroad & a Platinum One cashback card for purchases here at home, been accepted for both.
Thanks again.:dance:0
