TV sound/speaker advise needed

Good evening,
Could someone advise on this, please?
I got a TV a couple of years ago (http://www.tesco.com/direct/technika-32-270-32-inch-hd-ready-1080p-lcd-tv-with-freeview/209-3494.prd?sc_cmp=aff_995083) and, although the picture is very good, the sound has never been fantastic and, now, the speakers are giving up and starting to produce a "buzzing" sound.
My question is, could I get a cheap set of speakers to replace the TVspeakers and, if so, do you recommend anything? I'm not looking for surround sound or anything of the kind. Just a pair of cheap regular stereo speakers would do for my needs. :money:
I try to keep up with technology but, I'm not an expert on these things so, please keep this in mind if you reply.
Thanks for any help

I used an old set of PC speakers to boost a TV.
Check that there is a 3.5mm headphone socket and test the sound quality.0 -
Sound bar seems to be the answer. Just looked in Sainsburys and they have them from app £69. My Wife has just bought me one for Christmas from Amazon but this is the all singing dancing one with the extra wireless bass speaker which cost £280, something I probably wouldn't have gone for myself.0

I have a 19inch Technica with tinny sound quality & have done the same as previous responder & plugged some old computer speakers into the headphone socket.
If you then try different settings under the Personal sound menu you can normally get some improvement.0 -
Your TV don't has headphone out put, you can't use standard PC speaker.
You need to find speaker with coaxial0 -
Well noticed Cisco.
Us analogue people are so yesterday.
This raises the cost for the OP. You need a sound bar/speaker system that acepts a digital audio input.
Why would you buy a TV for a childs bedroom without a headphone socket?0 -

I've never used extra speakers on a TV before, but have just had to buy a new one, and the sound is very 'tinny', but I can't spent very much money on speakers.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
Am I right in thinking these would be ok to plug into a TV?

Why would a £12.99 speaker set sound any better than the TV?0 -
Well the other guy recommended, so I'm going to try. I only want better than tinny, sot a home cinema.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0

Do you have a HiFi or any other kind of music setup in the same room as the TV, or at all?0

Your problem is going to be that you have no analogue outputs from the TV and therefore will have to buy something with a DAC built into it which will take up a significant part of the price of any budget options.
A soundbar is a possible solution as most do have digital connections (though some optical only which your TV doesnt support). You inevitably have to be a little realistic of the sound quality you will get from a soundbar though as their dimensions are rarely much better than the TVs and they've still got a DAC, PSU, Amp etc all built in there too.
In an ideal world I'd suggest a stereo amp and speakers which would give vastly improved sound but given the requirement for DAC then it'll probably go much above your budget0
