Do you have an electricity key? you need to take the letter into a post office with proof of your address. They will give you a ticket/receipt which you can then take to use to top up your key with £15.
I got one and the letter is not very clear at all.0 -

Oh, so no cash. Waste of time for me as the property is lying empty with the power turned off.
Oh well.....0 -

Yeah, there probably is a standing charge? I don't know cos it's on prepay meters and had no power on for months. I suppose I better check.
Thanx for the reply.
you'll soon find out when you stick that £15 in, if there is then it will grab back all those 26p a day when the meter was empty.
(if the meter is empty. Not sure what the electric meter standing charge is but it is probably about the same as gas)
Oh and remember your meter is probably set to grab back only so much a week, so if you owe more standing charges than the weekly grab back, it will take some the following week.0 -
BG prepays are set to take £1.20 a week in my area so your £15 is going to last 12 weeks .0

each area/taffic must be different then, as I only asked 2 days ago and was told the gas meter takes 26p a day at 2am so that's £1.82 a week not £1.20, the electric if that is what you are referring to may be cheaper?0 -
The £15 is because you have a duel Fuel supply with BG. The letter is for you to get cash. This time the wording does not say it needs to go on the meter.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

Wrong
You take it to the PO and they give you cash.
(I did it last week)
Letter from BG seemed perfectly clearly worded to me. Basically said - Take this letter to PO with ID and get given £15 cash-which is exactly what happened.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Nooo thats not fair
I didn't get cash I got a receipt. My letter did not say "get given cash". It wasn't very clear at all it just said take to the PO with ID, to be fair it didn't say it was top up either, just take to the PO. I did wonder what I would get so didn't ask/say anything just handed the letter over. This is the first year I have been duel fuel with BG thanks for the info, if I am with them next year I will ask for cash.
I suppose at the end of the day, it doesn't make alot of difference money still has to be put on the meter.0
