Credit score clear but no credit!

Hi all
I have a credit score question.
I never had a problem with credit, then left my husband, got divorced, rented a house, and it all went awful!
Even though I had done nothing different financially, not defaulted on anything, not a sausage, as soon as I moved it all changed.
So, I did the credit reference agency thing- looked at it-
I got the ex husbands name removed as a financially linked person, there was one small thing to do with my daughters mobile phone contract, but that was wrong and I got it corrected.
I got the electoral roll thing sorted for my new address etc.
The score is in the "Fair" category of numbers (For some reason)
But everything else is green and looking great.
Yet I STILL cant get any credit- and all I want to do is pay my car insurance monthly and it wont let me!
I dont want credit cards or loans, and I just dont know what to do now to sort this out as I cant see WHAT exactly is wrong as like I said, Ive done nothing different at all to the 20 years I lived with the ex husband.
There is nothing referring to my current rented property or anything- can anyone please advise me who might be able to help me sort this as all I can find on line is all the credit agencies and I dont actually need a copy of my report because I have several and there is nothing else I can see I need to do to it.
*In a panic as need to renew car insurance*!!
Jenny
:-)
thank you in advance.

Do you have any credit accounts at the moment that are open and appearing on your credit file?

Have you had copies of your files from just 1 credit reference agency? or from all 3?

How recently did you move house? you mention you are now sorted on the electoral roll, presumably you have also updated your bank account/any other credit accounts to show your new address.

Is it one particular insurance company that will not let you pay in installments? or have you tried more than 1?

  • Hello
    Thanks for reading-
Everything is changed to my new address, I have been on the electoral roll since September- they only update the list every now and again Im told- but the credit score people have me as on the register so alls good there.
I have only used Equifax- I didnt think that it would be different with other agencies- can you tell me about that please?
This was one particular insurer- I am just comparing the mearkat and do appear to have found some that have not indicated they wouldnt take monthly, but I havent rang them yet as my current policy runs out end of December so I just wanted quotes.

There are 3 credit reference agencies. Equifax, Experian and Callcredit (aka noddle).
A lender could search 1, 2 or all 3 of those.

If you have an issue you are struggling to explain its worth getting copies from all 3 to see what they each show (they don't necessarily show the same information as not all lenders report to all 3).

You mention filing a notice of disassociation - you would need to do that with each of the 3 agencies.

  • Thank you- that is very interesting- that I need to change it with all three agencies- how silly they are not all linked- *sigh*
Ill go on the other sites then.
    Many thanks

Equifax - have a free trial (free if you remember to cancel) or you can buy the statutory report for £2.
Callcredit you can buy for £2 or you can subscribe for free at Noddle (not a trial, permanently free).
