ADT Alarm Problem

Hi,
We have an Accord XPC alarm that was installed by ADT some years ago and is now no longer on contract. We were never given the Engineer Code (ADT protecting their empire) but I now know how to reset the Engineer & User codes to the factory settings (after which I should be able to reprogram with my own choice of numbers).
However, there is a small chance that ADT may have downloaded their own software into the panel to prevent me from carrying out this procedure. Has anyone any knowledge on this subject please - anyone done this/any (ex)ADT engineers/any independent alarm engineers?
Thanks.

Try it, u either will or you wont have success and if you own the system then its yours, the worst that can happen is nothing.0

Thanks for the replies.
Haven't tried the factory reset procedure yet (it's in the Installation manual, by the way). I thought I'd do my homework before jumping in....

Thanks for the link, but I've tried there already. There are people that know, but for some reason won't tell. Keep suggesting that I should call an engineer at some silly hourly rate. Sounds like empire protection to me....
Shame it's not like the Screwfix Forum - ask a DIY question and 9 times out of ten you'll get sensible answers from those in the trade.

I can appreciate that. But the process of what I'm doing sets the alarm off by default anyway. So doing it sneakily (unless you're very good I guess) isn't an option.
I'm hoping that someone out there had the same problem on the same panel installed by the same people. And if so were they able to sort it easily?

Alarms should be periodically tested anyway, so setting it off and then re-setting it straight away, is a bit different to it going off for a long period i.e. 20 minutes. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
ADT don't give out engineer codes. If you want it reset to your own number they'll do that for you.
Only they want 120 quid +vat!!!!
