Hi ,when you enter a next store the staff will be under extream pressure from managers to get customers to sign for the directory, so make sure you know what you are getting into .the cost of the directory is £3.75+and then you have to pay for the first qoder to be posted to you home ,£3.50 .So the true cost is £7.25 ,you can not avoid theese charges .so why not shop on line and use one of the p/p/ discount codes

Interestingly enough my daughter had been looking at things on line day before yesterday. Went to store with me yesterday and couldn't purchase as only in the Directory. She just went on line last night and purchased quite a number of things with the one and only £3.75 delivery fee. She felt the online description as good as getting the catalogue. I used to get it years ago and never really ordered from it - Next sizing doesn't really suit my figure.
To be honest I have always found that Next staff do not really try and pressurise about the Directory - they ask, I politely say no thanks - end of story. Same with any store really - asked if I want a store card - say no and that is it. Although I do find M&S rather predatory having folk patrolling sales floor with clipboards. I do have an M&S storecard (mainly because I can use it as a credit card if I ever was in extreme difficulty - never has been that desperate but a better rate for purchases on occasion abroad rather than withdrawing currency!)
Just an observation.

My objection to the Next Directory is that they insist on sending it to me every time I place an order even though I explicitly say I don't want one!
To be fair, they have always apologised, cancelled the charge (who pays for a catalogue really these days - I am astonished they still bother?) and once a nice lady even rang me back to confirm whether it was recyclable or not!0 -
My daughter works for next .if the staff do not obtain new customer's to sign up for the directory it is recorded on thier file . the store manager's are set targets & rewarded with gift vouchers .what i;m saying is that beware of what you are signing ' why pay to shop if they want your custom then the directory should be free of charge .0

If you ring up NExt they will stop sending directorys out, ive been shopping online with them for years and never receive a cataloue.
I do get annoyed when i go shopping tho , seems like every other shop tries to get you to get a store card out, there should be some law against it, it really annoys me:mad:0 -
You only pay for your NEXT directory if you actually order something from the catalogue. SO by all means order a catalogue, then just write down the code of what you want, and go find it in your nearest store!! That way you'll never be billed for the catalogue!
Well, I've never paid for one....Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Hi i know that you do recive a bill for the amount of £3.75. I belive that if you dont pay then it may go agaist your credit record . when you sign that flyer, then that's your agreement to recive the directory and pay for it .0

Ive never owned a Next catalogue. I suppose its very useful for homemakers, good housewives, partners and parents though.
Its a little more touchy feely than using the tinternet though.0 -
Just heard from my daughter today. The outfits she wanted to buy her boys for a wedding were only available from the Directory or on line - not in store. She ordered them as they really looked nice in the illustration but on arrival on Saturday, when arrived - awful! She to make a journey to her latest Next store to return yesterday. So it is not all it is cracked up to be.
I remember a few years ago coming home from work and the latest Directory had been delivered (by Courier) and left on my front door step - a sure advert I wasn't in. I phoned Next to complain but they were in the least not interested. Don't receive it now.

someone will always have a bad experience with it though. Like you.
Millions were / are satisfied with it though, thats helped towards their business growth.
Eventually Next may cancel the catalogue altogether, but for the home maker, I can see the logic in sitting on a sofa with a catalogue - perhaps showing it your partner. With a tinternet connection you would have to sit by the desk or flop the laptop around.
As for the goods not matching the catalogue quality, well thats been the same story for nearly 40 years. Its the same as using the internet.0
