someone using my address

A friend used my address for his driving licence and now for his car insurance. He is sofa surfing at the moment and does not have a permanent address so I thought I help him. But I am concerned about potential risk as he can use this driving licence as proof of address for all sorts of things. I am now in the middle of remortgaging my house as well. What are the potential risks, other than him going to a bank and taking a huge loan and never paying it back

The only risk is that you could have some unwanted mail at your house that you would need to return to sender. Very very small risk that you could have a debt collector or bailiff turn up at the address looking for him, but all you would need to do is explain he doesn't live there.

It won't affect your credit file or your ability to get credit.
Credit files are specific to individuals not to addresses. As long as you never have any joint accounts with him then his behaviour/credit file will not affect yours.
