Pc world cashback/price match

Options
Hi all,
yesterday I bought a galaxy tab 3 in pc world for £140,it has £20 I can claim back but not until 3 weeks have passed. Today I saw the same item in tesco for £120,instore. Pc world state that they will price match if another item is found less than 30 miles away and In store. Pc world fail to recognise my claim for a price match seeing as there item contains a £20 cashback (all be it after 3weeks)
my argument is that I Paid £140 when I could have paid £120 in tesco.
I feel I have been mislead when I visited pc world today and they said that the items are the same price.... Need clarification/sales of goods quote!
Please advise anyone who can help, only got 6 days to do this!

  • Pricematching is not governed by the Sales of Goods Act

You need to read the exact terms of their pricematch promise, normally it will state it is purely discretionary and so really isnt worth the paper its written on once they've made the sale

And normally their T&C's will state they will only price match on identical items (or at least all the price match offers I've read have always had this as a requirement).

In other words, they view it as you trying to price match a tablet with £20 cashback vs a tablet. Ergo its not the same item/deal.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
  • It's £20 cashback that you claim after 21 days PLUS £20 store giftcard.

It's a better deal than Tesco, and the Pricematch says identical terms, so you're really out of luck and making a fuss over nothing.

PC world are fraudsters. They wont even price match themselves. I bought a laptop for £700 instore on Tuesday and today the price is has been dropped to £630 online. I went in store and they refused to price match. I called their price match number and they also refused to refund the difference.

I am now tempted to another one at the new price online but to pick up in store and immediately return it using the receipt of the one I bought on Tuesday.. will this work?

Its so crazy that they will penalise the few of us left who would rather shop in store.

So you bought something at a price you were happy with, then they reduced it at a later date. And because they wouldn't refund the difference they are 'fraudsters'?!? I'm pretty certain they didn't think 'right, pappilo has now bought a laptop, let's reduce the price!'

Would you have returned to offer the extra money if it had gone up £70 in price? Sales happen and things go up and down in price. That's life.

As for the buying a new one and returning it as the old one, do they allow returns on laptops if it's just for a change of mind? It may work, but you need to check that first.

I'll like to assume you have a functioning brain. PC World have it right there on their website that they will price match for up to 7 days after purchase. I didnt just wake up and decide to go in to get the difference refunded because I felt like, I asked for it because they offered the service.

And to school your ignorant self, yes most retailers including PC World allow returns as long as the item is in new condition i.e. not been used, sealed e.t.c.

The most annoying thing about this is they said "Ah If only you bought it online". I am one of the people who still choose to buy things in store, somewhat of a rebel. Seeing the disappearance of majority of our high street shops and retailers, I thought I'd contribute my bit to keeping brick and mortar businesses open but it seems it is a lost cause. People who buy online even get long distance selling protection. I will now give up the battle and join the rest of the online crew.

Before you resort to insults, maybe you should actually read the terms of the price match?
If you bought something in store (as you did), they will match the price if you find it cheaper in another store within 30 miles.
They will only match online prices if you made the original purchase online.

Online sellers have far lower overheads than high street shops so can often sell for lower prices hence the reason for not price matching between the 2 different selling platforms.

So not all retailers then? So my advice to check is still valid? :D

You come across as thinking you are superior because you still buy in a physical shop rather than online. If you have this attitude when out shopping then no wonder PC World weren't inclined to go out of their way to help.

Anyway thanks for a good laugh on a dull Sunday :rotfl:

Slightly different if they are offering a price match and not price matching, yet another gimmick from them lot

    But they do price match.
If you buy in store then they price match with other stores and if you buy online then they match against other online retailers.
