Price reduction after purchase

Options
Hi there
my first ever t ime in a forum so please bear with me.

I bought a bed from Dreams on the 11.11.2013, it cost £329.99 and its being delivered today.

I noticed online on the Dreams website that the price has now reduced significantly to £269.99 - a difference of £60.

Dreams have advised their price promise to match any price differences does not refer to themselves, even though this bed is only manufactured by Dreams themselves.

I'm trying to find out where do you stand on price reductions of goods after purchase - before you have taken delviery of the goods please if anyone can help?

thanks Kate

You have no rights to get the difference back but give them a call and see if they will give a goodwill refund.
  • thanks Bris - I sent them a very nice email but they replied to say they don't price match themselves :0(
    Not a very good response

These things happen. Yes it's annoying but you've asked and they've said no.

An oft quoted idea on here, but if the price had increased would you be sending them a cheque?

Did you order online or in a store?

If online, simply refuse delivery and tell them you are cancelling under the Distance Selling Regulations. Then re-order at the lower price.

(You will, of course, have to wait longer this way)
  • As I still haven't received the item yet I could refuse delivery and do just that - but I did order in store and not online. However even if I cancel the order and reorder it would still be cheaper - just depends how bothered I can be for £40 diff. I have sent them an email pointing this out - am still waiting a reply. I can but hope. Thanks for the reply.
  • Hi marliepanda - you're right in so much as I wouldn't be sending them a cheque - but what I would be more inclined to do is from them again rather than thinking they are money grabbers as I do now. I could understand it if I'd actually had the bed for 2 weeks - but I've still not got it!

As you ordered in store, you have no statutory right to cancel the order, even though you are yet to receive the goods.
  • update - They have just offered me half the amount back in Dreams vouchers as a goodwill gesture - so that's £30. Better than a kick in the teeth I suppose. I can buy a pillow or some bedding / duvet with that so not totally useless.

    Thanks for all your replies.
