Linked addresses!

Hi all
I've been offered a new job which is subject to a credit check. I have built up a lot of debt in the past 10 or so years (now c £8k) and have had lots of credit cards as I've shifted over the years to take advantage of balance transfers etc.
I've just ordered a copy of my credit report and I notice that I have 320 entries under the linked address section with experian! I have moved around over the years and the majority of these relate to the same properties but is this normal? Would it be something that a potential employer would raise as an issue? It's quite clear that there are only 6 or 7 addresses in total (just different spellings/formats etc).
My report is 'fair' and there have been no defaults since 2010 (and even then, only a couple) so hopefully the financial part will not be an issue.
Thanks in advance
Paul

The linked addresses should not be an issue at all.
They are more likely to be interested in the default in 2010 and possibly your level of debt.
Is the job with a bank/financial institution? if not then they may just do a credit check on your publicly available information (whether you have been bankrupt/CCJs etc and whether you are on the electoral roll).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thanks Tixy
The role is with a large financial institution. I've been advised by the recruitment consultant to draft something just explaining my financial history so that nothing comes as a surprise when they do the check.
REALLY hoping this is not going to be a problem!!!0 -
Mt wife works in financial services and a default they will most definitely be concerned with, linked address they will not. She has a clause in her contract to allow routine checking of her credit file to ensure she conducts herself in a proper manner (shows up as an "employee check" as oppose to a true credit search). I think any organisation that is under FCA jurisdiction requires employees to be vetted in this manner and I believe the thinking is that if you can't manage your own money, how can you be trusted to manage other peoples?
I think the advice from your recruiter is sound and I would come clean to your prospective new employer ASAP so it does not come as a shock and see what they say.
Good luck.0 -
