£8400 is a tad high... How much was your installation Estwing?0

Local company came to quote this morning.
14x 290w LG panels
Gem Apollo Immersion controller
Alpha inverter
at £6995
Still seems a tad high (Or am I just too mean??)
also the local company doesn't take Credit cards so I can't lob the difference from my CC and then swap this onto a 0% interest CC so this would make this a little more complicated......0 -

Hi VS. Is this the company I told you about, because if it is then they do take credit cards. Or at least they did when I paid for mine in the spring because although I had the cash sitting in my ISA, I also took out a 0% CC to pay for it.
Not sure whether the price is too high. I paid "just" over £6k for mine, but that did not include an immersion controller (16x250w panels + inverter), and my installation was fairly straightforward being a bungalow with no hipped rooves (roofs?), so easy access.
At least you have some prices to compare now.0 -

No, this is another 'local' company, the one you suggested have left a telephone message for me to chase up.....0 -

I paid 8500 for 12x sunpowers, more than what I wanted to pay originally but I included a Bluetooth sunny view with it, and it was the local firms quote which was a preference of mine0 -
Hi
I paid £6500 for just over 4KW..ie14 x 305 panels...needed the extra to compensate for shading issues, ie not great orientation and directions, some SW, some SSE and some NW as I have a house with multiple hipped roofs and other property close by...4 x 305 panels on single storey extension, 4 x305 panels n the main roof to the rear (I have Velux windows) and 6 panels on the NW facing roof (side hip). Just have massive bills and need to try to reduce in some way...come the long days, the NW side will get sun from the afternoon, but at the moment, the only panels I think are performing are my ones to the rear (extension and main roof). Ours was tricky for the men to fit as we also have the foam insulation on the underside of my slates..all in all, a 1.5 day job became almost a 4 day job. Nothing straight forward about it. No 'free' PV companies even bothered to respond to me, and others thought a) the foam was too tricky to work around and wanted more money, or b) thought our roof situation was too problematic, ie direction and hips.

Phone call from the company that was coming on Saturday to say their person is indisposed (what does that mean? Ill, in prison, absconded with the company's cash). Not great....
However, I'm inching closer with one of the companies..
14X 290w LG Neon Solar panel
Gem apollo inversion controller
Inverter (Aurora?? I really need to check!)
Now at £6750 (inc VAT) and I can pay by credit card (with no surcharge)!
Just off to apply for a 30month 0% interest free credit card to essentially borrow some of the money for free :T
The price is in the ball park to what I was hoping to pay so it is a go from me!!!
I'll post pictures once the system is installed (as everyone loves pictures)0 -
Deposit has been paid on my credit card for installation next week....
Last night my application for a Barclaycard 29month 0% intrest credit card was successful (Did it through MSE so they get a referral fee:money:). This means that I am effectively borrowing part of the money at a one off 2.39% fee.0 -

14X 290w LG Neon Solar panel
Hiya VS. I know you've paid a deposit, but is there any chance you can make a small variance to the deal?
I notice that the LG Neon panels are available in 280W, 285W and 290W. Might it be possible to ask for 285W panels instead?
This may sound odd, but 14*285W = 3,990Wp
but 14*290W = 4,060Wp, taking you the tiniest smidge over the 0-4kWp tariff band (14.9p) and into the 4-10kWp tariff band (13.4p).
So that extra 70Wp, will cost you a 10% reduction in the FiT rate. It's not the end of the world, but if avoidable .........
Mart.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

Installers are here!!!!!!
Lots of drilling and banging.....
