Facebook Chat - Wrong Location

Ive recently had an argument with my partner over a Facebook Chat Location.
She was supposed to be in one location, but chat reported her as being 100miles south.
This would not be a problem, but the location was a Hotel with nothing surrounding it. My partner denies being at that location.
Is it common for Facebook Chat to produce this errors?
Previous FB chat message locations have been accurate to about 30mtrs.

Don't know about Facebook chat specifically, but the regular Facebook recently gave my sister's location as Wales when she was actually in Scotland.0

Presumably you are not all that trusting! It's more likely to be a software problem than hanky-panky. :rotfl:
My location is frequently reported (in Google) as 60 miles from where it is and this seems to be something to do with the BT Internet server I log into.0 -
I am near Milton Keynes and many times sites think I am in Rochdale Lancs ! but that is where my ISP is, so locations are not always correct. Some people even get told by the BBC Iplayer that they are not in the UK when they are.0

And if it involved a phone and Facebook uses the phones GPS coordinates to track location then it's possible GPS was turned off on the phone. I only turn it on on mine when I'm using the sat-nav, so it frequently thinks I'm hundreds of miles away from where I actually am.0
