Lol. My sentiments also. Strange feeling.
Put a few coins in there, but no longer an effort to lift the pot (must have weighed over 6.5kg at the end).
But each little step (drop of a coin) will get us to the end of the marathon (count up day 2014).

I still have £35ish left out of my shopping budget this week so we shall be having bread and water or a freezer lucky dip in my house this weekend so I can feed my pot not the children. My OH say's I'm getting a bit obsessed with my pot, I have no idea what he's talking about!!;)

Thanks for a real giggle, claireyfairy, I even read your words to DH who gave a big wry grin. Ah, your OH won't think you're quite so obsessed come next November! Well done on that 1p!!

Can I have a target of £400 for this year please? No reason other than to see if we can. Hopefully quitting smoking soon, wish us luck

You're Target's on for you, honey, all the best with it. All very good wishes with quitting too as it can be done!! I had my last on Christmas Eve 1998 and believe me, if I can anyone can! :j Altering your daily habits often helps a lo, so does getting more exercise, sipping water regularly and nibbling on fruit and unroasted nuts. Cleaning your teeth/swirling a tiny bit of toothpaste round your mouth regularly is great. Remember that cravings only last seconds and in that time think of something beautiful, a memory from the past or a holiday to come, anything similar. Any help just PM me. :)

Well done, Saver-upper. BTW, your little darling will quite possibly remember which box is for which coinage too. :A A great find with that £10er!!

Hey! My quit day has been set. I come back from holiday on 5th Feb and not bringing back any duty frees

I have made myself a 'pot' from a finished tub of well-known washing stain remover and sealed with parcel tape. Put on my safety hat and yellow visibility vest, wielding a Stanley knife I cut a slot in the lid and presto !! :rotfl:

A Happy St Andrew's Day, Lynne. Great work with the £38, but it's up to you if you want to put any more on your siggy, some others do. Just be happy with what you want!

Not sure whether to admire you or be fearful of you with the description of how you were when making your pot! All very best wishes with your quit date! Please see my reply to honey10 for a few tips.

"£6 odd added yesterday change from dentist and Chinese"

Can't help thinking that sounds a slightly odd combination, Saver88! :D

You have a lovely weekend too, Lynsey, and thanks for the general support for all, it really helps encourage. :A

Hi Flat Eric and you're welcome to the good wishes. Your Target is now £777 as required, all the best in getting there.

I'm going to aim for £500 this year and I'm going to be very strict with myself and use the sealed saving tins, once their filled they are going in the attic with the Christmas decorations because in the last challenge as they got full I counted them up, banked the money but then I ended up dipping into the savings.

That sounds like a splendid idea, redbooties, and I hope takes on for others who were maybe put in the same bank situation. BTW, I've put the £500 as your Target, is that ok or would you sooner me take it off?

  • Hi everyone,

Have declared this year's earnings in the other thread - not impressive but I plan to do much better this year.

Can I declare my target please for 2014 of £500 - for me, this is a lot but I want to give it a go. SPC #1064.

In the next year I want to get a better grip on my finances and debt-busting instead of just faffing about - this is the start. :j
  • Oh and my 2014 pot (emptied and resealed today) has the grand total of £1.10 in it. :D
