Want to buy a laptop and tablet for my kids!

Hi All

I want to buy a Google Nexus 2012 16GB and the Asus x551cs-sx29h 15.6" laptop for my 2 children for Xmas aged 7 and 8.

I was worried about the 1 GB of RAM not being enough for the tablet, can anyone tell me if this tablet would be a good buy or any other tablets of a similar price range of £150.

Can anyone give me some advice on a durable protective cases as they damaged the screen on the last cheap tablet I bought for them.

Also could you guys let me know if the laptop will be a good buy or any alternatives for £280 or less (preferably a lot less :rotfl:)

Thank you very much in advance guys.

All advice received is very much appreciated!

Regards

Andrew

When I was a kid all I got was an orange and a block of wood!

Have a mooch around John Lewis as you should get good advice and a free 2 year (at least) warranty.

Don't go to Currys as they will just try and fleece you as much as possible on 'extras' you wont need.

I have had the 2012 nexus since it's release and have never found the ram to be a problem. I use it at home mostly for reading, games and face book. But have also used it on occasion at work for making notes whilst out and about.

I have this case, which has proved to be sturdy and is only now showing the signs of daily use.

As for laptops, I expect someone will be along shortly to advise.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

1GB RAM for Android is OK.
I don't think there is branded tablet with 2 GB RAM inside your price bracket
