I got call to say I had won the Iberia cruise leaving on the 9th Dec for 11 nights (only prize I have won my entire life) but nobody I knew could get the time off, I asked if I could give it to my retired parents but wasn't allowed to do this so I had to give it up - I should have gone on here and seen if anyone wanted to go with me - sitting here and still can't believe I have just handed back my only ever prize, absolutely gutted.

How much does a "free cruise" cost? I mean ... apart from not being allowed into posh dining halls as you've not got posh clothes, do you still get charged for tips or other nonsense?
  • Well the Baltic cruise includes 3 formal dinners, 5 casual and 2 semi-casual dinners. Full board. Was told that we pay for drinks and any additional excursions we wanted to take. However, as the ship docks in major cities we'll probably manage to do the sightseeing ourselves. Can't remember what they said about gratuities, but I'm expecting to pay these. The brochure mentions Michael Ball will be providing entertainment. I'll be able to wear some lovely dresses I picked up in the local hospice shop which haven't had an outing yet.

gratuities are charged to your room and you pay these when you end your holiday ---- P&O site says £3.50 per person (over 12 years old) per day

So 2 weeks (2 people) would be £98

regarding travel to southampton i used http://www.eaveswaytravel.com/timetable-prices.asp which take you all the way to the ferry from most towns in the uk, itz costing £108 each return which is actually alot cheaper than driving and parking for 2 weeks.

gutted you couldnt go jain i know how stressy it was as i couldnt find anyone other till the last second.

went shopping and bought myself some cocktail dresses lol

My son got the call Wednesday which I took as he was at work and they said they'd ring him back and still haven't, he tried a number an MSE'er gave me but it was the wrong team and he can't get hold of anyone. He actually CAN go but can't seem to get the booking sorted :(
That ain't working! That's the way to do it, money for nothing and TV's for free ;)
