Grey Market Amazon

If you buy an item on Amazon that is:-

Sold by XXXand fulfilled by Amazon

On receipt of the goods it transpires that the item was sourced on the grey market, do you have any rights? Other that returning the product.

Manufacturer says will not honour warranty as the product was bought outside Europe.

Thanks

    Yes, against the seller.

How long ago did you buy the thing?

I don't believe there is anything legally wrong with selling grey imports, but if the seller led you to believe that a manufacturer's warranty was in place and there isn't, then that clearly is wrong.

If you are worried, then return it under the DSR regulations, as long as you are still within the return period. Then buy elsewhere with UK warranty.

  • You have much better consumer rights against the retailer than the manufacturer - so why worry? If you don't trust a particular retailer don't buy from him.
