After eight years coving and other bits falling

I'm curious why some coving and the decorative top to a built-in wardrobe should have fallen down recently. The top is the moulding affixed to the wall between the cupboard and the coving above. The cupboard is in one room, and the fallen coving in another room directly back to back.

It cannot be bad workmanship as both were done nearly eight years ago, so what could be the events' causes? One possibility comes to mind. Three or so years ago we had loft and wall insulation installed. Could that have resulted in excessive dryness weakening the bonds to ceiling and wall?

Your thoughts on that and what to use( sort of adhesive to get the items reinstated will be appreciated.

    Have you checked for damp?

    That is one possibility.

Some coving adhesive should do the job. Perhaps the stuff used originally has just dried out due to central heating or such or perhaps was just not a very good product to begin with, this would seem likely if the same adhesive was used on both.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
