New Credit Card's

Hello,
Two questions...
I'm currently 24 looking buy a home with my partner in 6 months’ time. I have banked with First Direct since Aug of this year, they have now offered me one of their "gold" credit cards. I currently have a nationwide credit card already (held since Jan of this year). If i take out this second card will it affect my score/lending potential for my mortgage? Should i be having two cards? One? Staying with nationwide or cancelling it?
I partner also has been offered the same card but she wants to cancel/close her current capital one card.
Neither me or my partner owe anything on our cards.
Thanks!

Having 2 credit cards is not excessive and is unlikely to affect your ability to get a mortgage.
Do you use your current card at all? If not then it can be a good idea to use it for small amounts and repay in full each statement. That way it doesn't look like you are carrying a debt, you don't pay interest but you do keep an active credit history (that assumes you don't have any other current debts etc).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
