Should Scotland be an independent country?

Online polls are far too easy to manipulate to give any kind of accurate reflection.
The yes vote here is being driven by places like the yes scotland facebook page directing it's followers here.
The mere fact this is your first post, joined December 2013 probably means you where sent here just to vote!
So Does that not mean that the Bitter together campaign should also be sending folk over here to vote via their fb/twitter etc or maybe they have not thought of that?0 -
Just to correct you the majority of Scots, or more accurately those in Scotland entitled to vote, did not vote for the SNP.0

They think they can trust the EU cabal more than their fellow Celtic relations in England because we live over a line drawn in the dirt they deserve all they have coming.
In the last referendum similar to this in the late 70s the value, and resources of oil were played down.
It seems I cannot post links, so a search on "denis healey oil scottish independence" reveals all the details.
But seriously the UK is presently the EU's most oil rich nation, with over 90% of UK oil being Scottish. But there's always a little englander popping up about how bad that oil is for Scotland.
Being told in the 70s oil would run out in a couple of years, was basically the predecessor of Project Fear.
So regarding trusting the EU more than Westminster, only last month many millions of EU money arrived for Scottish farmers, yet westminster decided to keep it & not give it to its intended recipients. Its recent, look it up.
So as this little englander says Scotland deserves all it has coming, I can presume he's referring to Scotland's saving in no longer funding his Morris Dancing.
One last thing. There are aspects of international law that state if a nation splits then its assets that were contributed to & debts accumulated should be split between the two. There is also another method of division, whereby the remaining nation retains all its assets and debt, & the newly independent state has no claim on assets it contributed to in the remaining state, AND HAS NO LIABILITY FOR THE NATIONAL DEBT.
I prefer this option, as it lets tabloid land actually pay something that they were claiming to pay for years.
Anyone want to buy some "nucular" submarines going cheap?0 -
A big definite NO to independence from a Scot over here and to note, the majority of my friends, family and colleagues will be voting no as well.0

....& how on earth did the cybernats manage that, given that this poll has been advertised widely on the Vote No to Scottish Independence page? Do the 'cybernats' have some magical powers that can stop the NO voters from voting in the poll? or could it just be that there are many more 'cybernats' than 'britnats'? :T;)0 -
Good grief. Do you think the people voting in this poll are all entitled to vote in the referendum?
Many things are subject to outside influence.
The same can be said for the role of almost all of the UK mainstream media (MSM) - newspapers, TV, radio - and individual employees thereof, who pass off their own opinions as fact and thus seek to influence the Scottish independence debate by reporting verbatim - no questions asked - the UK government's "position".0 -

Bet if this poll read the other way it would be the most up to date accurate poll ever. To use football terminology "your only singing when ur winning". All the Better together currency nonsense, EU joining nonsense has all been proven to be just that Nonsense this week so you have to find some other Rubbish to try scare mongering with. I will of course remind you, the Majority of Scots voted for the SNP in the last Scottish government elections, the same majority will vote YES in 2014 and a lot more.
You wrote the latter part a little ambiguously. SNP received the most seats getting an outright majority in a chamber designed for that to have been impossible. But they did not receive the majority of votes.
Voting was as follows on 11th May 2011, (Constituency, List)
SNP 902,915 - 876,421
Labour630,461 - 523,559
Tory 276,652 - 245,967
Libdems 157,714 - 103,472
There were other parties too, but SNP received 45% of constituency votes & 44% list.0 -
There are only 2 nations in the world who have discovered oil, but have no oil fund....Iran....and Scotland. Billions of £s squandered over the last 40 years by the Uk Government. Scotland will make sure that the next 40 years are not squandered but used to benefit the people.0

The is the interview Denis Healey (now Lord Healey of Riddlesden) gave to Holyrood magazine:

(a sizeable extract of which also appeared in The Sunday Post).
Related to this, and of particular relevance here, is the now-infamous McCrone Report:

Lets just remember the Better Together campaign (who often cite the risks of the instability of Scottish oil etc.) is almost entirely funded by an oil trader, based near London who presently cannot vote in the actual referendum.
Better together cannot send a crowd anywhere, their recent meeting in Bute had more speakers than people attending from the isle. One of the standing jokes about them is that to stretch Ian Taylor's funding, they now hold their meetings in bus shelters and phone boxes.
Figures estimated the YES march in Edinburgh to have reached 25,000 attendees. Lets just say Better Together don't do marches, as you need actual people to do that!0
