Parking Eye for beginners, please?

Hey, I recieved a parking charge from ParkingEye for £60 to increase to £100, and have been reading the forums trying to get my head around all the companies, lingo and abbreviation floating about in other threads as to what I can do about it, but frankly I have no idea what it's on about and would really appreciate it if I could be advised in plain English specific to my case so I can understand. ]:
My situation is I received a parking charge noticesaying I parked on a Marstons Pub car park for 2 hours without paying. It is accompanied with photos of me driving on and leaving etc. Now, I did buy a parking ticket for 3 hours, however it was an 'enter your own numberplate' machine and I entered the last 3 letters of my reg incorrectly, as I had my partners reg on my mind. I still have the receipt saying I paid, but it obviously has the wrong reg number on it.
I followed the directions on the letter as to how to appeal my case and sent them an online message on their site stating my mistake and sending a photo of the receipt I have, however they failed to even acknowledge it and just sent out another charge notice the same as the first.
How can I get out of paying this, as I did pay my parking and it was just a genuine error on my behalf which led to a ticket.
Sorry if this is a repeat.

2 ways of dealing with this
1) get the landowner to have the parking charge cancelled , especially as you have a receipt and so no loss occurred to the landowner or his agents
2) check if they gave you a POPLA code on their rejection letter , then use one of the many templates to dispute the contracts and losses etc at POPLA
if they have not acknowledged your appeal or sent a notice to keeper then send in another appeal with a copy of the receipt and ensure that you get an acknowledgement back, keep doing so until they acknowledge it too (also keep the original receipt safe as well)
obviously you must adhere to the timescales involved and hopefully you have not told them you were the driver, so only deal with them in the 3rd party as registered keeper

What was the date of the contravention?
What was the date of the notice to keeper?
Do you live in England/Wales?
When did you send your appeal to PE?0 -
ParkingEye usually cancel in these circumstances but internally they are a bit chaotic and regularly lose stuff, so it might be worth posting an appeal, giving the date of your online appeal and getting a free proof of postage.
