Hi
I have volunteered to help a friend input some information on an access database.
Is it possible for us to both work on the database at the same time? ie, if she is inputting on her pc and me on mine. If not, is there a way we can work independently and at the end of the day amalgamate our work to give us one updated version of the database.
Many thanks.

Your search term for Uncle Google is "merge access databases 2007"0

Have you tried using Office Groove? It's bundled with at least one version of Office 2007.0

Assess is a multi user system. If you are both on the same network, you can both enter data at the same time.
(You obviously can't both update the same record at the same time, and if you try to do that one of you will lock the record and the other will get a warning message.)0 -
As mentioned, if you are both on the same network then yes. BUT you should first split the file into front end and back end.

You don't have to do this, but multiple users all working on the same Access file is the single most common cause of Access database corruption. Splitting into front-end and back-end hugely reduces the risk of this.
Regardless, Access databases do get corrupted occasionally. Back up frequently.Je suis Charlie.0 -
And don't forget about the 4GB limit for an Access database (or was only up to 2003??). Access gets/got a bit flaky after that and can corrupt without warning.
Splitting into front-end/back-end is a good idea (especially if you're using forms to input the data) but if you're keying straight in to the tables it won't work.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0
