Inexpensive honeymoon destinations?

We're planning to go on our honeymoon in September and so I'm looking for some inspiration! The reason I've left it late to book is that our wedding is on a fairly tight budget and we weren't sure how much we'd have left over to pay for the honeymoon.
Anyhow, we're looking for somewhere relaxing but not somewhere where beaches are the only thing on offer. We'd prefer not to have a location which is too family friendly. Basically I'm open to suggestions! 7 or 14 days would be fine but our budget is around £1000 total.
Thanks in advance for any help

Our preferred departure airport would be any yorkshire airport, Manchester or Gatwick at a push.
We're very flexible with the dates so whenever is best really - anytime between mid august and the end of september ideally.
Yeah £500pp B&B is probably the upper limit.
We don't really have any areas we like/dislike because we haven't been to many places! We don't really like the idea of the large resorts you find in southern spain and the Med etc. We had a holiday in Madeira last year and enjoyed that.0 -

A www.jet2.com flight from LeedsBrAdford to NiCE and a small good hotel on the Riviera.
There is a Train service along the coast so you could do day trips to Menton, Monaco, Cannes.
www.hotelscomparison.com for hotels and a bit of cashback through www.quidco.com
Hotel reviews at www.tripadvisor.com
or a package to Elounda, Crete.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
