Fabric Envelopes
Options
Hi. I posted this on another board but realised it should be on crafting.
I am currently making fabric envelopes for each of my grandchildren. They are made in 1 of 4 different Christmas fabrics. On the front there is a ponytail label which says Santa. On the back there is a sender label which has their name on. The plan is they will put their letter to Santa in it and leave it out for an elf to take. Santa will then send a reply back, through the elf. I saw the idea in a magazine to buy so decided to have a go at making them. Thankfully they don't take long to do as I need to do 10. Mine are very similar to these but I have made a label for them with beige fabric which I have frayed the edges.

I don't know how I came to miss this thread but I'm glad I've found it now! What a beautiful idea! These would also work for giving small gifts to adults - like jewellery or even gift cards - and the envelope could be used by the recipient afterwards - small cosmetic purse; place for those ear bud type headphones; or even somewhere tidy to keep spare plastic carrier bags when you go shopping, instead of having them just stuck inside your handbag. Oh.. just thought of another idea - great to give to a sewing crafter with a few bits of sewing related things such as a selection of needles, thread snips, small scissors etc! Aww the more I think about these envelopes the more ideas keep popping into my head!
Thanks for the GREAT share sethsgran. You've filled me with ideas for those little gifts that I need to give to folks but that I would like to make look a little bit more special in a way that I couldn't come up with! I'm going to get my fabric scraps out and see what I can come up with.
(love the ones in that last link you gave ... they're so 'me'!) TC xxx
