Scottish Hydro cold calling - I'm confused?

I just had some pushy sales person from Scottish Hydro at my door trying to get me to sign something that would stop me being charged standing charges for gas and electricity.

When I told him we were with British Gas he said it didn't matter as they supplied the energy. He blabbed on for a while about how we were paying too much (I have checked many times and the BG Click 2 tariff is the cheapest). When I refused to sign anything without written information, he said he would send me something in the post and left in a huff - what the hell?!?

Has this happened to anyone else (I'm in Edinburgh)? Is it for real or are they just trying to dupe us into changing supplier?

Most suppliers have a No standing charge tarrif, you just pay more for the first X number of units to cover what the standing charge would have been.

....and yes they were trying to dupe you as they get commission on sales.

Mr Saxon will put and end to this.
