macbook pro superdrives: are they all this noisy?

Options
I am using and thinking of buying a MBP if the 0% c/card will burn that far.
It's a lovely machine and whisper quiet except for the superdrive which is like a hairdryer. The make is Fujitsu and it's a new spec 15" MBP.
I did some forum surfing and others seem to have a problem with noise on loading a CD or DVD, but this is constant noise. It drowned out my ambient music while I was working! I can't get a straight answer out of my mac fanatic friend who tells me that he only uses the superdrive to burn CDs to listen to on other media.
Before I head off to the store tomorrow - the AppleCare lot were hopeless - has anyone out there got one recently that has a superdrive that is very quiet and works well? This one also swallowed 2 DVDs and I had to do the shutdown>eject>hold trackpad mouse down emergency option.
If anyone's got one that's great, what make is it? I'm so upset as it's the nicest computer but I can't live with that hairdryer noise. It's a multimedia machine so I find it weird.
When I rang the shop they started to talk about a refund, so I wondered if they knew that it's a current ongoing fault, common to all MBPs. I hope not!

i prefer this to the macbook but if the superdrive's different and you have a very quiet macbook superdrive, please also post? thanks.

Most models of macbook pro (and Macbooks) use matSHITa drives which are at best not great. I don't get a lot of noise from mine other than when inserting or ejecting the drive. If listening to music on it I usually import it into iTunes ans listen from there. Saves battery power. I don't know why Apple use crap drives. They are very thin but hey the machine is pricey so good drives should be used.
