Ideal HE boiler stopped working - no display, nothing!
So I went to have a shower today, no hot water! Went to check on the combi boiler, and it just looked dead, no display, no noise, nothing. Turned on and off, nothing.
I've also learnt Ideal boilers are a pain in the a$$! It was here when we moved in.
After doing a bit of googling, i've seen that it could be something to do with the Printed Circuit Board (PCB), probably needs replacing. Does this sound about right? Obviously hard to tell without seeing the boiler.
Anyone know how much on average this would cost for someone to come out and replace? If that is the problem.

about £170 for the pcb plus 1hr labour.
next your fan will probably go and so on and so on.
ideal are complete rubbish0 -
Have you checked that the boiler has not been inadvertently turned of at the FCU?
Have you checked fuse at FCU?The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -
There is also an internal PCB fuse which may have blown if you have no display at all.
If/when you call the plumber out, make sure he checks the boiler thoroughly before he replaces the PCB -after my Ideal boiler failed last February they blew two PCBs before they stripped the boiler down to find that the sensor wiring/fan wiring was all melted together because the heat shielding on the heat exchanger had failed!! Had to have a new boiler:(0 -
The new Ideal Logic boilers are getting better reports, they come with a 7 year warranty. Apparently they have employed an ex Vaillent designer to revamp the range. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
