LA Fitness - altering charges

Hi,
I recently joined LA Fitness and agreed an 18 month contract.
I then added my partner to my account - the T&C's state that I must provide one month's notice in order to cancel this addition.
I rang up today to cancel it, and as expected they told me one more payment would be made. They then told me that this would be higher though as the cost had gone up.
I have not yet received any info to say the charge was going up - in fact if I go on the website to add somebody else, it's still showing as the old amount. They tell me that they need only give me 14 days notice of this increase. Yet I must give them one month to cancel.
I understood that the notice period for increased charges must be at least as great as the contract termination period, otherwise they could suddenly put the cost up to £1000000 and I'd have to pay it!
So where do I stand here - the amount isn't much, but it's still very annoying that they think they can do this.
