I didn't want to claim any benefits, may be out of stubbornness, but I'm in a situation with credit cards now, and looking to know what to do to resolve the situation or make it easier for me until I am back in employment at least. Should I put all of my debt onto one credit card?

Also, you say a loan might cheaper? I will consider that option

Up to you whether or not you want to claim benefits which you are entitled to.

But the credit card companies are not charities and want their money back. How are you going to give it back to them?

Borrowing yet more money to repay debt is not the answer, even if it were available to you (but probably isn't in the situation you describe)

Why borrow money from those who expect it to be paid back, when you are not taking advantage of the money that you could receive without any strings attached?

Makes no sense whatsoever to me.

I don't have any PPI, no! I used to sell PPI for a living years ago (don't shoot me down!) and know that it was a worthless outgoing to make!

My ex used to manage claims on PPI - whilst the banks ASU products were badly sold and overpriced the payout rates were high and would have been covering you now (strangely including whatever you are continuing to spend on the card whilst sick/ claiming)

Grumbler - So if my account is frozen and I'm not paying interest for a few months that will affect my credit rating? The advisor told me it wouldn't. I should have guessed I was being incorrectly advised...

I wouldn't worry about the credit rating.

With over 7k of debt, no income and no idea how long the 'no-income' is likely to last, your credit rating has hit rock bottom already.
