I am grateful for the ESA i receive but it is in no way FREE money

ESA is paid for by the welfare state and is free money. That's why you have to keep jumping through the many welfare hoops, if you want to be given money.

There is no pot with our names on, holding all the taxes we have paid over the years. Those taxes were put into government spending and used up years ago; some of which would have been given out at the time, as free money to benefit claimants.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

  • Hello,
I would like to know which avenue above to go down please. I surprisingly failed my assessment and dwp sent me a letter saying I had. It said I would receive a further letter of explanation. It said after I got the 2nd letter, I would have 1 month to respond back to them. I waited and waited and waited and waited and recieved no letter. That month's end and the next month's end, my landlord said she was recieving all her direct rent so I relievedly thought my esa had been corrected and continued. Suddenly last week my landlord tells me her direct rent has been stopped. I checked my bank and my esa had been stopped way back with the failure letter. I spoke to dwp to see what was happening and also for my outstanding 2nd letter. After a bit of repeated prodding from me the somewhat evasive dwp fone man finally says that there "is no letter". That is what I didnt understand. How can there BE NO letter? Anyway I am terrified of bureaucracies and agents and processes and forms and letters and the whole lot so I wanted to get everything done as soon and simply as possible so I was pretty much much going along with him. Towards the end he kept trying to push me into making a new claim. As usual I was quite willing to go along, but luckily I felt slightly offended by someone tying to bully me into something and I began to feel more uncomfortable and I couldn't think clearly so it mademe reconsider and I decided to hold off to to find out more for myself if 1)that was the only avenue left in that situation, 2)if that was the best avenue left. Best in terms of 1)speed? 2)simplicity? 3)would I lose my past entitlement for the entire period since the 1st letter till now?

Sorry but the rush is that my landlord is old and ill and she is constantly on my back for a quick resolution so she gets her xmas rent for a mortgage and I hate stressing her and making her ill. Please help with any answers and insights. Many thanks all.

Therefore the money is taxes not free.I rest my case.

It's free money to benefits claimants; of which you are one. Once you can finally accept that, you will realise why you will always be asked to supply whatever evidence they want; within whatever the time they say; or they will stop your claim (free money).

After a long fight i was awarded the support group until 2015,every April i receive a form to declare my occupational pension and any rise i may get.I have just had a call saying they are reviewing my claim again and to provide pension details again. Is this normal as i thought i would be left alone until 2015 or my circumstances changed which they haven't.I really thought my nightmare would be over until 2015 after getting my MP involved and having a long drawn out battle.
Is it usual to review claims when the award date has not been reached and the fact i gave my pension details in April, this will not change until April next year and i do not always get a rise.

They won't leave you alone as they have a duty to the present workers, to ensure their money is not being given to those claimants who could work and pay for themselves.

There is no such thing as free money, especially from the Govt.I have no problem with supplying any info the DWP request,it was just unusual to be asked twice in the same year for the same info when previously they only wanted my pension details once yearly.

Things change, rules and regulations, eligibility criteria etc.

Nothing is ever fixed when it comes to welfare.

The system I receive money under now is vastly different to the one I started on, just part of how life goes.

As someone said, just got to comply and keep jumping through any hoops they ask you to.

    :)
