How many points go towards honours?

Is this different for each university or the same, and how many is it? I've just finished 3rd year and can find no information on my uni website, Next year is worth 120 points (40 dissertation, 4 subjects at 20 points each) but i know that part of the honours classification comes from your best so many points from the previous year. Any idea on the total points, i'm thinking 180 or 200 but don't know.

The honours part is worth 60 points. 300 points for a degree, 360 points for an honours. Not sure about the previous year thing being the same for each uni but at Sheffield Hallam I can take max 25% from my second year if the marks are better, else I can take 100% from my final year. Hope that helps.0

I think it depends on what uni your at. At Chester the degree classification is based on both year 2 and year 3, year 2 being worth 1/3 and year 3 being worth 2/3. They also deduct the lowest module from each year giving a better average if you did really crap on in particular area. But yeah I think its 300 points for a normal degree and then 60 is the honours part, but you would want the honours surely0

At my uni all degrees are honours degrees, since to pass you have to take 12 10 credit modules per year (or an equivalent in 20/30/40 credit modules), with certain specifications about the number of credits at each level. To work out the final classification, the uni takes an average of the top 200 credits from the last two years.0

I've just realised that i've been a bit stupid as my degree is from a Scottish institution and the honours system is different here for a start and obviously a high proportion of the users of this board will be in England...Bought, not Brought0
