There's not an issue with the market of people wanting to pay as much as they desire. The issue is stopping places/companies/people buying large numbers. The only reason they do that is to sell it on at a mark up. As has been said it's profitable for these "sub" companies to do that. And yes it comes down to someone may be willing to pay 10X or more the ticket price, but if you stop sub sites buying bulk tickets, then there are more tickets available for Joe Public to buy at whatever price. so at the ticket value effectively.
There is no issue with someone buying 4 tickets, and finding out their darling daughter is actually on a very important date and doesn't want to be seen with their parents. So they could sell on that one ticket. Often these events sell out so far in the future (july for this particular one) that who knows what comes up by then. Births, deaths, marriages, or even graduation etc. In that case selling is fine too. Some one will always buy the tickets. It's just those in it to profit directly from buy to sell, not buy to use (but found out dear rover died the week before and his doggy cremation and bonio wake is being held the same day).0 -
Secondary agencies are owned by the primary agencies - they know exactly what they're doing. And promoters are smart enough to take a slice of the secondary increased prices too. Frankly, the whole area of ticketing, booking fees, secondary fees, primary and secondary ticketing, etc is dirty and opaque - and long overdue for some kind of legislation to clean it up and make it consistent.
One one is out of four so I wouldnt generalise to be honest.0
