Hi,

On Sunday I was told about two order discount codes, that meant when I went to order a mixed case, put in the code and it took the price to £51.80, then I put in another code and it took the price to £11.80. I then checked out and it went through all ok, confirmation came through.

They then cancelled the orders. My question is can they, or should they have honoured the order.

No they did not have to honour the order.

Order confirmation isn't necessarily acceptance of your order (as above).

In a real shop, acceptance occurs when you offer x payment in return for x product and the cashier accepts the money. Online its more complicated since most ordering processes are automated. So its possible for online retailers to specify what constitutes acceptance.

Its common for online acceptance to be upon dispatch only. In other words, if they haven't sent the goods, its unlikely a contract exists but you'd have to check their terms and conditions.

If a contract exists, then you may be able to chase them for loss of bargain but this is notoriously difficult to prove. One of the main things is that it must not be an obvious error. So unless they regularly sell for the price in question (or there abouts), you'll have no chance.
