Electoral Register Form

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to ask, please move if necessary.

Electoral register form arrived yesterday. My question is, if my boyfriend spends 2-3 nights with me, and the rest of the time with his mum, at what address does he fill in the form?

Thanks

Which address does he use as his address for the bank, on his drivers' license etc? At 2-3 nights with you I would assume his 'home' is still at his mum's.

You can be on the electoral register in more than one place - as long as you don't actually try and vote in both.

... or claim benefits for both. Unless you're an MP :D

My worry is, if he registers at my address even if not living here, will it affect my single persons discount for council tax?

It's a good question. I suspect not - I'm not even sure the two are linked so the council tax office wouldn't actually know that he's on the electoral roll at your address.

But I don't feel confident in a definitive response. Hopefully someone else will know for sure.

I would have thought it would? If he is already living with you 3 days out of 7, you could be open to at least being checked out and I would image one point of evidence in favour of 'he lives with you' would be the electoral role (as well as his driving license)

But there'd have to be suspicion in the first place to prompt them to look at the electoral roll and yet you're saying it's his being on the electoral roll that would make them suspicious! It's a completely circular argument :D

Lol, a great metaphor for the my whole day:D. Yup, not saying I'm right but if it was me, I would see being on the electoral role as 'living here' so I wouldn't take the risk. This may be complete bunkham hogwash though.

If there's no real need for him to be registered at your's I'd leave him at your mum's. I was in the same position with my fella - for him to move in with me would've meant he spent a fortune in petrol travelling from mine to his work, and I would've lost my single person discount. We kept him off my address for everything until he did actually move in
