WiFi Printers - any good?

Are they? Ones in double figures, not triple that is.

How reliable are they? I remember wireless keyboards from years ago being horrendous (or at least the ones i tried) but the one i have now is quite good actually.
Are WiFi printers lagging behind or are they perfectly fine? I always go for an A-I-O printer. I just like the idea of no wires.
They don't suffer badly from interference?

  • I have a HP Deskjet 3050 and its been fantastic. Cost me £25 about 18 months ago. Hasn't faltered once. Very much recommended.
  • Wifi cards are so cheap, especially when there is no significant size constraint, that there is no reason why even the most budget wifi printer would have connectivity issues assuming nothing else in your network does
  • I picked up an Epson XP 205 for £30 in Asda a few months back and it has been great. I can even print from my Android tablet and phone. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that it also does wireless scanning ( I had assumed you might need to plug in a USB cable for that).

And because it is wireless it doesn't need to be upstairs near the router and the rarely used desktop PC. I was able to sit it in a quiet corner of the living room where I am likely to be when printing from my laptop.

Wireless printers also have wired connectivity if required so if you buy one and still don't like the idea of wireless you can plug it into your pc as you do now.

  • I have a Canon MP495

    I find it excellent.

I bought it with vouchers from energy bills.
  • Yep they're good. having the printer downstairs has been a vast improvement.
    Friendly greeting!
  • Sweet. Thanks a lot everyone.

Not sure about having a printer in the living room. Not really my cup of tea, but still it's good to know they're reliable.
