I suspect this is why Capital2Coast have left the BPA :
1. They suggest the appeal you send to them is considered by an independent body.
2. That they hide the POPLA code after saying the appeal was independently assesses.
3. They don't explain what the code is nor how to use it.
I suspect we'll see the BPA membership drop over the next few months. I bet the PPCs and BPA are kicking themselves for pushing for RK liability in POFA !!!!!0 -
I'm not so sure that the cost of POPLA is a problem for the "industry". Even if an appeal costs £100 (and it is probably less now it is in "GPEOL - allowed") mode with a appeal rate of less than 1% is costs less than £1 per invoice.
What is intresting is now this is charged to the operators. As pointed out above, the BPA Ltd has "cash" of around £1m (per last years accounts). If the total cost to BPA Ltd of POPLA is (say) £2m per year it needs to be charging this back to its AOS members.
How the members feel about this would be an intresting question. I guess that it depends upon whether the AOS members are seeing an overall increase in "invoice" collection and/or percieve an increased respectability for the "industry".Je suis Charlie0 -
