    Catering is where the profit is made. Usually the husband runs the pub side and the wife the food. Both need to work 16 hours per day to make a reasonable turn over. Free house's are the ones that make the real money - only the bank to look after.

    In the recent government enquiry into tied pub deals, 47% of owner managers stated they made £15,000 or less per annum. Guess which ones Punch are trying to jettison and which ones they will keep in-house?
