Just received my new Acer laptop with Win 8 and surprised not to find a COA on the underside.
After Googling now find that the product key is embedded in the BIOS.
Will there be any time in the future when I may need to know the key? eg if I update to Win 8.1 or need to do a restore. Will the key be available to view anywhere if not what is the best way to find it,thanks.

Belarc Adviser will tell you what product key is currently active (plus many other details about your computer).
So will Jellybean KeyFinder. (I've not used this).0 -
Microsoft seems to have changed the system a bit with Windows 8 - I can't remember the ins and outs of it but a good source of information if the forums over on My Digital Life

Windows 8 (and the update to 8.1) reads the key from the BIOS/UEFI. If you do a restore it will automatically read the key and verify it.0
