Laptop intermittently losing wifi at home

Hi

I hope someone can help

We're with EE for our broadband. Seemingly every day at intermittent times our Packbard Bell TE11 seems to lose connectivity to the wifi (all other devices in the home like phones etc.. stay connected).

Can someone possibly identify why this happens? It's so frustrating

  • It might not have a very good wifi receiver. Perhaps you keep knocking the wireless button control, or maybe some software on the laptop is interfering with the connection. Could also be something to do with your connection settings on the laptop
  • Thanks...

Would you know what my settings are "supposed" to be?

Sorry to be dense, but where/what is my "wireless button control" ?

Download SSinsider onto the laptop to look at your home network and any others broadcasting close to you. Changing your broadcast channel may help.

Log into your router control panel and look at the router's log to see if there's any error message corresponding with the time that the laptop loses connection.

Sorry to be picky. It's inSSIDer by Metageek.

    Ditto advice from Googler.

If it's Windows 8 then there's known issues with wi-fi. If you Google "Windows 8 wifi connection problem" there are numerous things to check, but primarily, the wireless adaptor settings need to be changed to stop Windows switching it off.
