Loan companies amending credit reports

Hi there - I'm new to posting but have a question.
I recently “missed” a payment on a loan, as this was paid through my debit card, and the card had expired. The payment was due on 26th October – they emailed me on 29th, to which I initially emailed back asking what they were talking about as I had forgotten about my new card. On 30th I contacted them and made payment, and at that time was reassured they would not update my credit file with a late payment.
I have creditexpert and as perhaps I should have guessed would happen, they have updated this to show a late payment – thereby wiping 200 point off of my creditexpert score. I am going to write to them recorded post, but do you think this is actually worth even trying to get removed?
Obviously I am extremely unhappy about this situation, but do recognise it was initially my fault in overlooking to update my card details. Can they actually amend the credit report, even if they agree to do so?
Any advice very much appreciated.
James

They are able to amend their entry on your credit file.
Defintely worth trying to get them to do so if they told you that it wouldn't be recorded as a late payment.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
