28th Feb will be hugely busy for removers. If you can, avoid this date.

You'll find completion will go through quicker too (get yer keys earlier) if you avoid a 'peak' date.

    Good Question,
Primary answer is school holiday i.e Half Term.
Allied to being last Friday of the month.

Historically an exceptionally busy day, and indeed already we have more customers who have indicated 28th Feb as a preferred moving day than we do for the entire rest of Feb combined.

Its also the first date psychologically acceptable date for those who want their cake, and to be able to eat it in terms of the above, and in attempting to avoid the worst of the winter weather

Oh, and its two pay days after Christmas too

Have just, and I do literally mean just put the phone down from a lady in Worcestershire ho was due to exchange contracts this morning, with a completion date of Monday 2nd.

10 minutes before the exchange her buyers revised their offer down, by £10k.

The lady is VERY p**sed off, and has told them where they can stick their offer.

that's such a slimey tactic

All useful to know, we hope to complete in mid-July but haven't exchanged yet, good to know it's feasible. We have been packing for weeks though also having issues re booking removals, new phone connection, etc.
  • I was wondering about this. On the solicitor pack I put 'July/August' whilst thinking 'how do I know?!?' - I just figured they'd tell us when we can do these things but was hoping for sometime within the school holidays. You can tell we are FTB!

Our house we just bought: 7 days between exchange and completion (5 working days):

My BTL flat: 5 days between exchange and completion (3 working days).

For me once I'd exchanged I wanted to complete asap - though the 3 working day one caused me some serious headaches as I had underestimated how long it would take to get the deposit into the solicitor's client account (I had shares to sell which need 3 days to settle)
