Swinton Letter re ppi

Options
I've had a letter from Swinton saying I could be entitled to a refund from 2010. However, although it is headed paper it's not full colour and the logo is photocopied. I've tried checking the number of 0800 466 1617 and nothing comes up. I'm a bit suspicious. I've searched for Swinton on this forum but haven't found anyone else with the same query.

If the letter simply invites you to complain about some possible PPI insurance mis-selling then it's a bona fide letter from the financial institution. If the letter mentions any refund amount or asks for money upfront, it's a scam.

Remember that, even if the letter is from your lender, it's only an invitation-not any admission that you were mis-sold.
You'll need to construct a robust complaint with solid reasons in order to be refunded.

  • According to the Financial Services Register, the complaints number for Swinton is 0161 233 3770

    So I would say scam.

I suspect they have contracted out the CCL issuing and reviews. If they have, then this would see different address and telephone numbers.

    What would help is:
1 - did you actually buy a PPI policy from Swinton?
2 - is the letter an invitation to say you may have been mis-sold if you had PPI or is it actually saying you have been mis-sold?
3- do you think you were mis-sold it?

  • Hi,

I received two letters regarding my Legal Protection Gold Cover and so called Swinton using one of their general phone numbers. After being referred to six different teams, I finally got through to someone who could help and I have got a refund of about 13 quid. Better than nothing.

So you could try that. I did ask for their direct number and they gave me 0800 466 1581. Now, that doesn't come up in the internet either, so if you're not sure, just try the main number...0800 056 5631 and go to the home insurance people and ask to be diverted to the right team.

    Hope this helps.
