He will know if he put his signature on anything.
If he did, it was a contract.
He would be liable for what he contractually signed.
If this is the case, use the lessons up and make the OH go without a few luxuries to pay for it, like beer and nights out.
That might focus his brain more in future.Be happy...;)0 -
wow, my sons Karate class was £30 license fee with free suit and £15 per month. Its an excellent club too.0

In my opinion it is (or at least was) one of the warning signs of a McDojo.
I thought this! I'm quite happy to take him anywhere he wants to go but the prices they are charging is shocking! And to contract kids to a 6 month course is ridiculous! Kids change their mind about what they want to do all the time! The whole thing has infuriated me to be honest! More so because it was that price for 2 half hour sessions a week, and one of which I know he won't go to because his mother refused!
Thank you to everyone who has responded to this! I will find somewhere else for him to go to, but that place is certainly not getting any more money off us!0 -
I'm interested in who the club is associated with...
Maybe you should write the head office a letter and explain the situation, and that you'll accept an admin charge that's reasonable but you'd like (most) of your deposit back. Any credible association would understand I'm sure."Always fulfil your needs, only fulfil your wants when your needs are no longer a concern" - citricsquid0 -
1) it wasn't his birthday and I never said it was!
2) I went to the in laws to get my 12 week old daughter out of the cold!
3) A brew is not "going out drinking" it's a cup of tea where I'm from!
4) £97 upfront and £80 a month for 6 months is absolute extortion!
5) His dad is gutted that he was so impulsive as there are plenty of other martial arts groups that wouldn't require him picking up overtime from now until forever!
6) none of that has anything to do with the question I asked which was :
Do we have any chance at getting the £97 back?
Please do not make assumptions about me or my family! My OH made an impulsive decision which he now regrets because we simply can't afford that much money, all we want to know is how to get this £97 back!
I misunderstood. Where I'm from, if you "have a party", it means its your party as opposed to going to one.
But I was hasty in my post and thank you for clarifying. I apologise for my words. They were not acceptable. I hope you get it all sorted. Just don't go in asking for a fight. They are martial arts experts! One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0
