TSB rejected claim

Hi, I contacted Lloyds TSB (just before it split in two) asking for details of how to claim for my 'Select Gold' account I believed was mis-sold.
A few weeks later I got a letter saying:

"...your account was upgraded to a Select between 1997 and 2001...."
"I have received confirmation from the benefit providers who have advised you contacted the Mobile Phone Insurance provider on 17 March 2005 to register a Nokia 8310. Additionally you registered 3 cards and your driving licence on 09 March 2009 with Sentinel card protection. Although no claims have been made, this does indicate a need for the benefits and that you were aware of what was included as part of your account..."
"...I do not feel your account was mis-sold as you showed suitability for the account by contacting the benefit providers and we have kept you informed over the duration of the account".

Ironically they have given me a £100 refund on recent charges as a payment without admission of liability.

Is it worth pursuing a claim with the Ombudsman considering what they've said?

Thanks in advance.

There's a great little MSE article all about reclaiming the cost of packaged bank accounts that were mis-sold here:

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/reclaim-packaged-bank-accounts

However, based on the response the bank have given the OP, I don't really understand why the OP thought the product was mis-sold.

OP - please explain why you think the product was mis-sold as you claim. What evidence do you have to support such a claim because the bank seem to have loads of evidence to the contrary. Or do you not agree with the comments the bank have made?

Still dont see what the complaint is. I can see a response to the complaint but nothing that indicates what the actual complaint is other than one was made.

The response from the bank seems pretty comprehensive and indicates the products sold were used. That suggests the complaint may have been about selling products that were not used. However, as they were used, it eliminates that as a complaint reason.
OP - please explain why you think the product was mis-sold as you claim.

Which is what I asked for.

You said the OP failed to say what the complaint was and so asked what it was.

I don't know how the OP could make their question any simpler?

The complaint clearly relates to the LLoydsTSB Select Gold [packaged] account held by the OP which is claimed was mis-sold to them.

My question is not what you asked. My question asks the OP to explain their reasoning as to why they feel they were mis-sold the product, especially in light of the response the bank have given.

By telling us what their reason for complaint was.
The complaint clearly relates to the LLoydsTSB Select Gold [packaged] account held by the OP which is claimed was mis-sold to them.

Yet it doesnt give any reasons for the complaint.

Which is the same as what I have asked for.

The reason for the complaint, for the third time, was because the product was claimed to be mis-sold.

Admitedly, no information is given as to why the OP thought that, which is why I have asked for further information.

Anyway. lets wait to see if and when the OP responds to my question, eh? :)

That is exactly what dunstonh is asking for.

"Mis-sold" is not a complaint in and of itself. There must be reasons why you feel it was mis-sold. If you have no reasons then you have no complaint.

That is not a reason for complaint. That is what has been done but not the reasons why.

    ...

I suggest you twos (and all those who loyally thank you) read the link I posted earlier to the MSE article on reclaiming packaged bank accounts ... it's all about complaining, and hence reclaiming, if the product was mis-sold ;)
