Merchant banker?
I don't think that that term's commonly been used to refer to us for about twenty years.0 -

Us bankers need ot be registere with the FCA to be allowed into any position of responsibility. If we were found out to have committed any serious sort of offence, then not only would we be out of the door on the spot, but we'd probably never be able to work in the industry ever again.
I really can't work out where this idea comes from that our actions have no consequences for us. Similarly, there are people who think that our pay has been unaffected through the downturn, that we don't pay our taxes, and that we decide for ourselves how much we are paid.
None of these is even near to the truth.
I'd say that the only commonly held view that the pubilc have of us that is right is that the pay used to be exceptionally good, if returns were also good.0 -
It must be quite a hard field to work in with all the anti-banker feeling, hardly fair to tarnish everyone with the same brush when some people are innocent.
So what about finding another job while suspended? Are you allowed to work or attend interviews? Can the company delay the disciplinary to prevent you working elsewhere?Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

Contract may disallow additional jobs while employed by the company. This would apply during suspension.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
Will double check, thank you

How long do they have to take to "think it over" at the end of a hearing?Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

However long they say. Could be that day, that week or another date in the future. It's usually pretty quick though.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

Really? So if the member of staff was valued but stole from you, would you not suspend them then?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0
