My vet told me the human stuff was fine. One thing to consider is the 'fillers' in human stuff though, it can be bulked out with various ingredients, so read labels carefully.
I know lots of people buy supplements for their dogs from Healthspan and Zipvit, so worth checking out.0 -
Hmm I'd heard that about human ones. Might just try to find the best deal on dog ones, thankyou x0

I have used them in human form for my dogs but the one I'm finding is having the best effect for my older dog who's nearly 11 is YUMOVE.
I got them direct from the manufacturers (Lintbells) at £33 for 300 tablets which are chewable so no messing getting them down the dog's neck!
They are high strength and contain all the ingredients proven to help joint mobility in dogs.0 -
I am told that Cetyl M is very good - but it is expensive.
There used to be lots of info and many good reviews but my old links no longer work.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWZoeeR6aXM
The following info is copied from an old email... the tablets do not smell of medicine, as it's not medicine, but natural compounds. Non fussy eaters usually take them as treats.... Doctors and veterinarians have been using and recommending the Advanced Cetyl M® formulas to support joint health and performance without restriction and without incident since their introduction in 1998. All ingredients are naturally occurring and it does not contain any synthetic compounds, drugs and medication. There is no known problem to add Cetyl M to the diet when the animal is also taking steroids or aspirin.
Rita Elkins says 'When CMO is taken in oral form, it is absorbed through the intestinal tract and migrates via the blood stream to joint receptor sites where it becomes attached.
While the exact physiological mechanisms involved in CMO therapy are not fully understood, it appears that this compound actually alters the immune system response that triggers joint inflammation and causes pain and swelling.
The presence of CMO within the affected joints seems to block the inflammatory response, resulting in a cessation of pain and a decrease in swelling'.
The glucosamine used in the ... Advanced Cetyl M® formulas is derived from shellfish, which may be of concern to people allergic to shellfish.
Cetyl myristoleate effects and acts upon joint tissues in ways that are unique to cetyl myristoleate – and different from glucosamine.
One does not work as a substitute for the other.
In Advanced Cetyl M® Joint Action Formula, cetyl myristoleate and Glucosamine HCL work in together with other joint-enhancing ingredients to deliver the greatest benefit to your animal.
We recommend an initial 'loading' amount be administered ... depending on the age of the animal and the severity of the condition, and 4-6 weeks for dogs.
The recommended 'loading' period and feeding level are based on averages.
In nature, of course, there is no such thing as 'average.' Be sure to monitor your animal's condition and adjust as may be necessary to help ensure optimum results.
Older animals may take longer to respond.0 -

I know alot of people use mobile bone supplement for older dogs or with joint issues. Its normally on offer at pets at home or cheap from amazon. or as someone said Yumove is highly rated as well.
Green Lipped Mussel is also good and so is salmon oil. I give my dog fish4dogs sos salmon oil and it lasts ages and its about £10 for 500ml.
What food do u feed? Alot of the good higher end foods include glucoasamine and chondroitin especially senior versions. My partner paren'ts feed there lab Skinners Duck and Rice its about £20 for amazon for 15kg or not much more and contains it. She suffers from Joint problems and defo improved.0
