Rewiring house

Hi
I'm getting my house rewired in a few weeks. Have hired a good sparky who comes recommended from a few Friends
Just wondered if I could any advice on things I need to do and look out for. I have already got plans of where the sockets will go and also TV points that will be needed. Also mentioned smoke alarms. Anything else I should be asking?
We are also planning to get a loft conversion in a few years when the money is there. Anything prudent I should ask the sparky to do to make sure the some prep is there?

Drop CAT5 cables for t'interwebs0

If you're going to add a loft conversion, make sure the new consumer unit has a few spare ways (slots for more circuit breakers) for any extra circuits that will be needed. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
And run lenghts of 2.5 and 1.5 cable up into the loft from the consumer unit ready for the loft conversion0

Hardwired smoke/heat alarms.
Outside weatherproof socket if you have a driveway.
outside lighting
cat5 for internet
provision for an hardwired alarm system.
10mm to bathroom if you have an electric shower.
Oh and most importantly.. dont skimp on sockets! get at least a double in every corner of every habitable room, and even more in the corner the TV etc will be.0 -

I think CAT6 is the new one now
Sufficient twin sockets inside house and every room
Do you need a undercounter lighting in kitchen? How about any a socket for that TV in the Kitchen?
You could ask your sparky to add ariel sockets in each room.
Wiring for your surround sound set-up
shaver sockets in bathroom
Any wall lights.
Wired alarm
Outside lighting
Power supply (with separate consumer unit) in garage
Outside weather proof sockets
Wired doorbell.
Do you need internet in garage? If so to run CAT6 cable to that point"I think I spent 72.75% of my life last year in the office. I need a new job!!"0 -

The electrician will need power to do the rewiring, so should fit a temporary fuse board and you can ask him/her to run an extension lead to keep your fridge/freezer on during the work. If power is off they will be fine for 12-24 hours though as long as the doors are kept shut0
