HELP ParkingEye ticket

doll1
My son who is a student parked at the Membury services Hungerford completely unaware that only 2 hours were free. He was on a university trip and was caught on cctv leaving after being their for over 10hours, He now has a demand for £100 (reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days. Do we have grounds to challenge this charge as if he had seen the signs and bought a parking ticket it would of only cost £10 for 24 hours and also as he is a student he can't afford to pay, which inevitably means i'll have to pay it. I have e-mailed ParkingEye explaining this and offering to pay what i see as a fair charge for the parking (£30). Any advice would be most welcome

What did you learn when you first of all read the stickies?
'Successful complaints about PPCs'
and
'newbies...read this now!'0 -
Sorry, i am an idiot, but i didn't see "the stickies".0

no problem, neither do most people , otherwise their questions would be more informed , but it is near the "new thread" button , lol
ok , once you have read them and decided what you wish to do as in following the protocols, try to decide how to word any soft appeal first , and maybe popla later
also think about complaining to landowners etc too0 -
Sorry, i am an idiot, but i didn't see "the stickies".
The threads at the top of the forum when you first looked at it, which have the word 'sticky' written next to them as they are permanently stuck to the top (like on a noticeboard). I am pretty sure when you registered it may have explained about reading sticky threads first on any forum board otherwise you'll not learn much on each subject. Always start with the 'stickies' on a forum board.
Have you discovered all the info now? Any queries let us know because we do want to help you beat this scam. But we can't keep answering individual threads from scratch every time which is why I typed up the 'newbies' and the 'successful complaints' stickies.
I so wish you had not offered to pay £30 to Parking Eye but hopefully they will decline (or you can change your mind). Why did you think it was a real parking ticket and that 'inevitably' you'd have to pay it(!!) before researching the whole scam of private parking tickets (which are NOT FINES AT ALL?!).
Glad you are here now and hope you can learn how to appeal and win at appeal, as regards this fake parking ticket scam. We win every time. NO-ONE PAYS!
The Parking Prankster explains the scam best:

HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
