Car doesn't go into first gear properly since clutch change
Hi
I recently changed my clutch and ever since I've had problem getting the car into first gear. Sometimes when I try putting it in first gear it seems like there is resistance and I have to put the gear back in neutral and try again. It is really frustrating specially at traffic lights. All other gears are fine and when the car has already gone into gear then it's OK changing gears. I took it back to garage where I got my clutch changed but the guy couldn't help.
Does anyone know what may be causing this please?
Many thanks
Car model: Toyota Aygo 08 reg.

Without knowing the exact make and model of car no-one can give a precise answer.
However the clutch is not dis-engaging properly when you depress the pedal to the floor.
Some cars have an adjustment rod on the hydraulic system.
Others have a cable operated system - also with adjustment provision.
Some have a adjustment free hydraulic set up and if you have that type then I would guess that the system has not been bled properly after the clutch change.
Take it back and ask/insist firmly but politely that they check the adjustment and/or bleed the hydraulics.0 -

Thanks for getting back, it's a Toyota Aygo 2008 model. If the linkage is misaligned it is possible that it only affects first gear?0 -
Is it difficult to engage reverse too?
What happens if you try to move the lever into 2nd gear from stationary?0 -

Reverse gear engages fine. Also if I put gear straight in 2nd from stationary it goes in fine. It's just when putting it in first gear that I have problems.
P.s. sorry I forgot to mention it's a Toyota Aygo 08 model.0 -
OK then - I still think it's clutch adjustment.

Take it back and see what they say.
Don't accept a load of clap-trap about worn synchromesh!
Good luck.0
