UKPC Parking Ticket

Hi Everyone

I have looked at several posts on here regarding tickets from UKPC parking. Again I am just looking for some confirmation on these.

I was given a parking ticket in Faraday Car Park, Coatbridge because my car was parked over a white line and not within the marked white lines. They had taken a picture off it showing my car outside the lines, the one thing is they didn't take a picture of the car next to me who was so close to the white lines that I had no option but to move my car over. I drive a Volvo XC60 which is quite big, it was only a couple off weeks old and I wasn't parking right next to the other car in case mine was damaged.

I have refused to pay this parking ticket that started at £60 then went up to £90 and now I have received a letter from a company called Debt Recovery Plus Ltd saying I now owe £140.

Can anyone confirm that this is all a piece of nonsense and I should just ignore it all.

Thanks for the help

I hope you just confined your reading to recent Scottish threads?

Because, yes ignoring them and the subsequent debt collector letters is the only thing to do in Scotland, other than complain to the landowner but as POFA 2012 only applies in England and Wales, the approach is different down there.

I have ignored them all until now and just put them in the bin. I take it I will receive a lot more letters from Debt Collectors which I do plan to ignore, personally I think they have a cheek expecting someone to pay a fine for their car being over a white line. Do the shops in these retail parks not realise how much damage that these parking attendants are doing to returning customers as I haven't went back to the place since. Hopefully they will leave me alone soon.

You can safely ignore in Scotland as they are unable to pursue the Registered Keeper, only the driver. And if you don't say, they won't know, and there's no obligation on you to say.

Do the shops realise the damage? Why not tell them - with a very assertive letter telling them that you nor your family will bother shopping there for as long as such outfits continue to infest their car park.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Maybe you didn't see there's a good search facility on page one? You could have just searched the forum for 'Scotland' as a keyword? Or 'Recovery' (from Debt Recovery Plus). Do a search and read other relevant Scotland/DRP threads as we seem to get a new one every day and give the same old advice when it's already here for you.

When you search, in particular take a look at MimosaDR's thread and chickadee13's thread. Watch the Watchdog clip about private parking tickets on youtube as well as it still applies in Scotland & NI.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
